The president of the football club Zimbru Chișinău, Andrei Cecetov held a press conference at which he expressed his opinion about the performances of the team over the past year and spoke about the difficult financial situation of the club.
- Last year was a tough one for us, including the financial point of view as well. We faced some financial difficulties that affected the club system. It became clear that the club want to earn and manage the financial processes, not relying on the help of the sponsors. The club became an independent entity, despite the fact that it is a public organization and its activities are not aimed to gather profit. I want to note that in 2009 the budget of one million dollars was totaly spent, said Cecetov.
- The club's performance in the European Cup can be appreciated as a good one. We have rolled over the Okjetpes club from Kazakhstan and looked quite good in the matches with the Portuguese Paços de Ferreira. In Moldova, in the National Championship we had a series of successful matches, followed by very poor games. This decline was related to our desire to develop young footballers, for some of them it was too early to perfor at this level. Our goal for the second half of the championship is to take the fourth place.
- Who joined the team in the winter season?
- A few days ago there was set the final list of players who we would like to see performing in the second part of the season. There are some new names: Nosenco, Sosnovschi, Furdui, Berco, Sîrbu. Also we are negotiating with the Bulgarian Angelov and the Romanian Ovidiu Belizov.
- How do you feel about the fact that none of the Zimbru players was called out for the national Teamt?
- We have worthy players to represent our country in the National Team, for example, both our goalkeepers and Alexandru Antoniuc. I think, Radu Catan, will be called up as soon as he gets beeter. When I meet Gabi Balint, I will definetily tousc upon this subject.
