The outcome of the match was decided after half-time when the score was 4-0 in favor of CSCA Steaua. The team also scored on an own goal by one of Olimpia defenders whose shot off the corner kick found his own team's net.
It is noteworthy that when CSCA Steaua were leading 2-0, the referee disallowed a legit goal by Olimpia. Young promising Mudrac netted and if the referee allowed his goal, the match could have ended in another way.
After half-time, the hosts netted once again, bringing the final result to shameful 4-0.
"I can't understand what happened to the team. I haven't seen my charges play so bad for a long time. Perhaps, it shows that the squad has trained on natural grass the entire week and the game was held on artificial turf. But it is not an excuse for today's loss. I am disappointed and hope that the players will make the right conclusions", said Victor Barîșev after the game.
