Olimpia-2 0-0 Saxan

August, 14 2011

Olimpia-2 made their debut in the Division A Championship 2011/2012 today, on August 12. The Red-and-Whites faced Saxan Ceadîr-Lunga.

The game was held at the city stadium and was much anticipated by Bălţi fans because many of them knew about the team newcomers and were interested in seeing  ppupils of the Bălţi football school play.

There were less spectators than at the first team's matches but this was only the opening match of the season. We hope that the interest in matches of the Olimpia second team will increase with every match.

Talking about the team, the line up of Olimpia-2 also included first-string players who do not get much time with the first team in the National Division. Olimpia's midfielder Nicolae Glega wore the captain's armband in that game. Leonid Groza minded the net and did a pretty good job. The penalty awarded to the visitors was not converted into a goal as Leonid made a spot-kick save.

The line up of our team trained by Leonid Tcaci and Victor Barâşev included the following players: Groza Leonid, Trinca Andrei, Clipca Vadim, Glega Mykola (c), Bejenaru Cristian, Ocada Shotaro, Guţu Nicolae, Kakulia David, Golban Mihail, Lacusta Ion.

Promising Alexandru Casianov and Vladimir Ghenaitis missed the game since they were called up to the U-17 squad on that day. Unofortunately, Alexandru received an injury in this match.

Both sides struggled to hit target in the goalless draw but to no avail.

The score line remained untouched though both Olimpia and the southern side had a few good scoring chances.

Olimpia's Golban and Guţu wasted their chances in the first half while Japanese international Okada slipped up after half-time. Winger Golban moved to the centre and sent a shot to the far corner but the visiting goalkeeper came to the rescue. Guţu had almost a one-on-one opportunity with the Saxan netminder and tried to blast the ball over him but it did not reach the goal line.

The representative of the land of the rising sun had a chance to score in his debut game but failed to net from a perfectly good position.

"Of course, it is always better to start with a win, especially given that we played at the home stadium but I am happy with the draw. We are building our team and this process takes time. I believe in these boys and think that Olimpia-2 will succeed in Division A, and we will hardly perform worse than last year, said Victor Barîşev.
