While the first team of Olimpia is losing points, the second team is fighting, sometimes in exchanging blows.
Olimpia-2 played against Dacia-2-Buiucani Chişinău in the 3rd round match of the Moldova Football Championship on August 28.
The match was held at the city stadium and brought together a small number of loyal fans.
The Chişinău side scored the opener as early as in the 5th minute when Pavel Secrier headed the ball in - 0-1.
Sometime after the goal, the sides played in Olimpia-2's half but Olimpia picked up steam by the 15th minute.
The sides exchanged attacks that did not result into goals. Denis Janu was especially good in creating scoring chances, despite his small height.
If the team had more experience, Olimpia could have claimed the lead in the first half.
Visiting goalkeeper carelessly left the goal in the 39th minute and would pay dearly for it if it were not for his team's defense. And a few minutes later, it was Leonid Groza who hardly managed to make a save.
A few minutes before half-time, Ion Lacusta slam his shot into the visitors' net - 1-1.
The score line remained untouched before half-time though the referee added one minute of stoppage time.
The Olimpians got down to business right after half-time - Glega performed a penalty kick after a foul on Lacusta in the penalty area but missed and Babatunde placed the ball into the net in the 48th minute but the referee called it offside.
By the middle of the second half, the visitors looked exhausted. Our side got an excellent scoring chance in the 77th minute but the visitors' defenders were on the alert.
This is when fans started chanting, showing that they came to the stadium only for the win. Perhaps, this is what inspired the team. Mihail Golban was pressed between two visiting players in the 80th minute and knocked down a few minutes later, after which a corner kick was awarded to the team and Olimpia Nigerian international Ajabula Babatunde put the ball into the net.
Denis Janu tried to increase the lead two minutes later but his shot was not accurate enough.
The score did not change during reguation and stoppage time but two players of Olimpia and Dacia-2-Buiucani got yellow and red cards after initiating a fight.
Olimpia's second team keeps up its confident performance in the Championship. A week from now, Bălţi fans will be able to watch this young and promising team play against another Bălţi side - Locomotiva. The game will be held away on September 3 at 4 pm.
